Officina Profumo-Farmaceutica di Santa Maria Novella was born as a Dominican friars’ convent in Florence, Italy in 1221. Since then, we select nature’s finest ingredients to give life to authentic, beauty-seeking routines for the home and the body.
Come to any of our stores or shop online our newest Eau de Parfums, Eau de Colognes, soaps, candles and skincare and bath products. The historical location, of Via Della Scala 16, Florence and also the very first operational site for the Maison, it is today a boutique museum where history brings alive the magic with care, savoir-faire, elegance and we are committed to preserve, and evolve, a heritage like no other.

Though it was my first time visiting Santa Maria Novella, I was absolutely impressed. There's a large variety of different scents - from light & pure to musky & sharp, as fragrances, soaps, candles and more. But what really sets this store apart is the staff guiding you through the selection process. Momoko was extremely eloquent and knowledgable about the different layers of scents that each fragrance had. It's one thing for a staff to help you find a scent you like but another thing when they are able to draw out the different notes that you won't notice when you first smell it, until you learn to look for it, through her guidance and expertise. There's a lot of subtlety in fragrances that can be missed or under appreciated as smelling is one of the senses we use the least after all. I remember the fragrances from this store deeply but also the experiences of smelling, learning and understanding as fondly. I will count the days until my next visit and buy more the next time - hoping that Momoko's insight and articulation is there again to guide me through the process.

Once, when I was wearing a little bit of potpourri cologne, someone said to me, "Oh, that smells like a rich person." I replied that it was similar to the scent inside an Air France plane or the interiors of Busena Terrace or Naha Terrace. You're spending money on something that doesn't fill you up, so you want it to be good. I think that's a good thing.

The atmosphere is great. It's very calming, and all the products in the cupboards are locked, so you can't pick them up without talking to the staff, but that makes it feel even more luxurious. The scents aren't too strong, and they're natural, making it one of the nicest perfume stores.
